once upon a time a little girl wished she were anything but black. she didn't mind being brown as long as she wasn't black. she said she was indian. she said she was dominican. she said she was afghani. she said she was anything but black. black wasn't beautiful and all she ever wanted to be was beautiful. beautiful and loved.

then this little girl grew up. she went to college and she met black people who thought they were beautiful. who thought black was beautiful. who KNEW black was beautiful. she met black people who knew SHE was beautiful.
